Pitkin Days is this weekend

Pitkin Days is this Saturday, July 25. The Pitkin Historical and Community Association hosts this annual event to have fun while supporting the PHCA’s mission to keep alive the history of Pitkin.

Saturday kicks off at 8 a.m. with a 2-mile or 5-mile Alpine Run/walk in front of the Silver Plume at Ninth and State streets. A fishing contest for kids up to 14 years old is held at 9 a.m. at the Kids’ Fishing Pond just north of town. Games for both kids and adults start at 10:30 at the Community Center. The Pitkin Museum full of interesting items from the past will be open in the morning. At noon enjoy fried chicken and all the fixings at the Newcomb Community Center. A benefit drawing will be held at 1:30 p.m. with items available for preview all morning. The egg and balloon toss competitions start at 3 and are followed by ice cream. A 4 p.m. duck race at the Stumbling Moose concludes the afternoon events.

Alpine Run/Walk, Sat. July 25

The Alpine Run/Walk is the opening event for the annual Pitkin Day festivities. It starts at 8 a.m. in front of the Silver Plume at Ninth and State streets in Pitkin. This is a timed 2-mile and 5-mile run. Everyone is welcome. Arrive early to register. No fee, certificates awarded to all, and a “Golden” Railroad Spike for first place.
