A recent article in the Times by Alan Wartes on the Colorado State Water Plan piqued my interest — because of a possible solution to the state’s water shortfall that the plan leaves unexplored.

Eddie Thomas Stewart, Jr., 61, passed away July 29 in Canon City, Colo. The son of Eddie Thomas and Macie Evalyn (Maxwell) Stewart, he was born on Sep. 26, 1952, in Pecos, Texas. Ed was born into a hardworking family. He was raised working on the drilling rigs in his father’s business, Stewart Drilling. Ed later became plant manager (both in Canon City and Gunnison) at Valco, a ready-mix plant, for over 30 years. Ed enjoyed fishing, hunting, four-wheeling, traveling, antiquing, and spending time with his family. After a short battle with cancer, Ed came home from the hospital and passed surrounded by his family: sister Becky (Dick) Murray; brother Ronnie (Karen) Stewart; daughter Lori (Kevin) Alexander; nephews Jared (Maria) Sullivan, and Justin (Tanah) Stewart; nieces Tara (Jason) Toelle, and Casey (Jay) Hudson; and his grandchildren Kenly and Zeb Alexander. He was “Uncle Ed” to Gabe, Gage, Mason, Braelyn, Questin, Ryder, Bella, Marianna and Julian. He was a stepfather to Rayna Cook, Ryan Cook (deceased), Jason Cook and Jeremy Cook. Memorial Service will be at 2 p.m., today, Thursday, Aug . 7 at the Vineyard Christian Fellowship at 245 S. Raynolds Ave. in Canon City. Arrangements are under the care of Holt Family Funeral Home.
