Wacker remembered for impact on those around him
By Will Shoemaker.
John Wacker, a much-loved Western State Colorado University music professor, died Sunday following a head-on collision on Hwy. 285 near Fairplay. Wacker is remembered for his command of music, humor and unwavering support of those around him. He was 55. Wacker taught at Western for nine years. Born and raised in Cheyenne, Wyo., Wacker began playing trumpet — an instrument he would come to master and play for the rest of his life — in fifth grade.
