A recent article in the Times by Alan Wartes on the Colorado State Water Plan piqued my interest — because of a possible solution to the state’s water shortfall that the plan leaves unexplored.

Afternoon rains have arrived, and being the all-too casual weather watcher I am that tells me it must be Cattlemen’s Days. I’ve noticed the daily dose of summer moisture seems to show up right about the time the rodeo comes to town — or I make plans to go camping. Instead of spending this past Friday, the Fourth, with head cocked to the heavens watching fireworks, Leora, the dogs and I opted to backpack into the La Garita Wilderness south of Gunnison.
