A recent article in the Times by Alan Wartes on the Colorado State Water Plan piqued my interest — because of a possible solution to the state’s water shortfall that the plan leaves unexplored.

By all appearances, this is shaping up to be a banner summer in the Gunnison Valley. Streets are packed. Businesses are busy. Shop owners are pleased to be making hay while the summer sun is shining. This is not a news flash, but our abundant outdoor recreational opportunities are the common denominator driving the vast majority of this activity. And people playing in an amenities-based place means economic activity. Long ago has the myth that you “can’t eat the scenery” in these Rocky Mountains been dispelled.
